

BOULDER, COLORADO—Vexcel Corporation today announced that is has completed its reformation as a wholly-owned subsidiary of Microsoft Corporation. Vexcel was acquired in May 2006 to complement Microsoft’s Virtual Earth offering with the addition of Vexcel’s expertise in aerial and close-range photogrammetry, as well as its technologies to create geospecific and geometrically accurate 3D city models. The acquisition provides Government organizations with highly specialized geospatial solutions.
Today’s announcement signals a commitment by Microsoft to fully leverage Vexcel’s areas of expertise to support Microsoft’s Virtual Earth mission and in doing so, offer customers an unsurpassed geospatial value chain that includes data acquisition products, sensor data processing services and products, and value-added processing services and products. Though not solely dependent on the Microsoft Virtual Earth platform, these Vexcel products and services will also complement and extend Microsoft’s core offering for geospatial data visualization, integration, analysis and dissemination.

Vexcel will continue to be headquartered in Boulder, Colorado and is planning a move to a new facility in the Boulder area to accommodate its future growth. Vexcel will report into Microsoft’s Public Sector Federal Services organization.
