Vexcel’s Proton telemetry processing system combines state-of-the art digital signal processing (DSP) technology with Vexcel’s extensive experience in the remote sensing and telemetry business to create unprecedented data capture capability for satellite ground station operators and satellite manufacturers. Proton supports an aggregate raw data ingest rate of up to 1.6 Gbps.
Proton’s software system is driven by a graphical user interface (GUI) that runs on Windows, providing intuitive access to configuration, control and performance status information. The GUI can be run either locally or remotely over a network, enabling remote system configuration and data retrieval. An extensible and fully documented Application Programmer’s Interface (API) is provided for custom application development.
Proton processing features include frame synchronization, Reed-Solomon error detection/correction, de-randomization mask processing, CRC error checking and run time data polarity detection and correction. All functions are fully configurable in software. Proton utilizes programmable pipelined processing, enabling system functionality to be upgraded as new satellites and telemetry sources come on-line.
Proton is the latest generation of a 10-year lineage of state-of-the-art data capture and processing systems from Vexcel. With over 75 systems installed worldwide, Vexcel is a leader in real-time telemetry ingest and processing.
