Vexcel is addressing the challenge of ocean surveillance through its expertise in satellite ground systems and radar signal processing. Vexcel and the Center for Southeastern Tropical Advanced Remote Sensing (CSTARS) of the University of Miami in Miami, Florida have jointly developed the OceanView™ maritime surveillance system. OceanView™ provides automatic ship detection in real-time and at a fraction of the costs of conventional surveillance methods.
Designed to operate within the processing queue of a satellite ground system. OceanView™ automatically locates ships and other maritime objects within commercially available, low-cost satellite imagery. The system then generates and distributes reports in the NATO standard OTH-GOLD format and in web format available worldwide from an encrypted web server.
