The Vexcel Archive Manager is a flexible storage management solution to manage the vast amounts of data in any remote sensing facility. The simplest implementation can utilize a single tape drive-a DLT drive, for example-where operator support is needed for changing tapes from online (the tape is inside the tape drive) to offline (the tape is on the shelf).
More sophisticated solutions use simple tape stackers, up to huge tape libraries that can hold thousands of tapes with Terabytes of near-line storage (i.e. the tapes are within reach of a robotic mechanism that can automatically load any tape into any available tape drive upon request).
