Vexcel's Swath Planner is an easy-to-use tool for planning satellite acquisitions. A swath is defined as the area on the ground that is potentially captured by the satellite acquisition process. Examples of this are the earth surface that is illuminated by a Synthetic Aperture Radar, and the area that reflects back sunlight to the CCD array of a push broom sensor as it moves along its orbit.
Vexcel's Swath Planner can assist a user in planning satellite acquisitions by showing the observation area and nadir track of a given satellite pass. From the graphical user interface users may generate detailed swath plans by providing observation criteria. The criterion includes the satellite, ground-station antenna or region of interest, sensor configurations, observation dates, and pass direction. The system will predict the satellites position. The results are overlaid on the map panel and listed in an easy to read table. A swath or satellite track can be selected to provide detailed information about the satellites position and view.
